Terms of Service
Terms of Service
Version 1.0 — effective 7 October 2026
This is the agreement between you and HOPP covering your use of the HOPP mobile app and the website hopvn.com (the "service").
By creating an account or using the service, you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. What this service is
HOPP helps you save the places worth going back to, together with the reason you saved them: whether you have been, how it felt, who it suits, what it costs. You organise them into collections and share them with friends if you want to.
The service is provided free of charge to end users. We may add paid features in future; if we do, we will say so clearly in advance.
2. Your account
2.1 Eligibility
You must be 13 or older to create an account. People aged 13 to under 16 need the consent of a parent or guardian.
2.2 How to create one
You create an account with an email address and password, or with an existing Google/Facebook account. Both routes lead to the same HOPP account if they use the same email address.
2.3 Your responsibilities
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password secret. Anything done under your account is treated as done by you, unless you tell us the account has been taken over.
- Do not impersonate anyone when creating an account.
- Do not transfer, rent or sell your account.
- One person should hold one account.
If you suspect your account has been compromised, change your password immediately and tell us using the address in section 12.
3. Content you post
3.1 Your content stays yours
The photos, notes, impressions and collections you create remain yours. We claim no ownership of them.
3.2 The licence you grant us
So that we can display your content, you grant HOPP a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, display, copy, resize and distribute that content for the purpose of operating the service.
This licence:
- covers only the operation of HOPP, and not reselling your content to anyone else;
- ends when you delete the content or your account, except for material others have already saved and for technical backups still within their retention period;
- does not allow us to use your photos in advertising without your explicit agreement.
For content you deliberately set to public, you understand that other people can view and save it.
3.3 What you promise about your content
You confirm that you have the right to post the content, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
4. What you must not do
While using HOPP, you must not:
- Post content that breaks Vietnamese law, or that is pornographic, violent, or incites hatred or discrimination.
- Post content that infringes someone's intellectual property, privacy or reputation.
- Post fake reviews, disguised advertising, or paid reviews without disclosing the payment.
- Harass, threaten or bully other users.
- Harvest other users' data with automated tools (crawlers, scrapers, bots) without our written permission.
- Interfere with, probe, or attempt to bypass the system's security measures.
- Overload the system, or use the service in a way that degrades it for others.
- Use the service to distribute malware or spam.
- Deliberately post a wrong location or misleading information about a business.
5. Moderation and enforcement
We may hide or remove content that breaks these terms, and suspend or terminate accounts that break them.
When we act, we aim to:
- make the response proportionate to the breach — a warning before a suspension, except in serious cases;
- tell the person the reason;
- allow an appeal via the address in section 12.
For serious breaches (unlawful content, child endangerment, attacks on the system) we terminate immediately and may refer the matter to the authorities.
6. Reporting
If you see content that breaks the rules, use the Report function in the app. We review and respond within 72 business hours.
If you own a copyright and believe content on HOPP infringes it, write to the address in section 12 with: a description of the work, a link to the infringing content, your contact details, and a statement that your report is made in good faith.
7. Personal data
How we collect and process personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms an inseparable part of this agreement.
8. HOPP's intellectual property
The HOPP name, logo, interface, source code and place database belong to us or to our licensors. You may not copy, modify or exploit them without our written permission.
Base map data comes from OpenStreetMap, contributed by the OpenStreetMap community and licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL).
9. The service is provided "as is"
We work to keep the service running and its information accurate, but:
- The service is provided "as is", with no guarantee that it will never be interrupted or never contain errors.
- Place information is largely contributed by users. Opening hours, prices and addresses may change or be wrong. Check before travelling a long way.
- We may change, suspend or discontinue a feature. For significant changes we give notice in the app.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, HOPP is not liable for:
- indirect or incidental damages arising from your use of the service;
- content posted by other users;
- your actual experience at a place featured on HOPP;
- interruptions caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
Nothing here excludes liability that Vietnamese law does not permit us to exclude.
11. Termination
You may delete your account at any time in Settings. After deletion, data is handled according to the retention periods in the Privacy Policy.
We may terminate your account for a serious breach of these terms, after notice — except where section 5 requires immediate action.
12. Governing law, disputes and contact
This agreement is governed by the laws of Vietnam.
In a dispute, both parties will first attempt negotiation. If negotiation fails within 30 days, the dispute goes to a competent court in Vietnam.
When these terms change, we give notice in the app before the effective date. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new version.
